About
Leaf didn't start in a boardroom. It started with sticker paper from Office Max, a can of spray paint, and a kitchen table.
Growing up, art was always the constant sketchbooks, graffiti, hand-cut stencils. Since 7th grade, that meant making things from nothing: spray-painting designs onto sticker paper, sealing them with gloss, stenciling tees and sweaters by hand. Money was never guaranteed, so there was always a hustle and eventually, that hustle became a craft. Screen printing, self taught, one shirt at a time. Walking downtown LA, wholesaler to wholesaler, looking for blanks worth building on.
By 2014, that craft had a name: Leaf. The idea was simple a real streetwear brand, louder and more colorful than anything on the racks. More pattern. More of what was already in the sketchbooks.
That same hustle is still the whole philosophy. Nothing about Leaf was handed over every piece, every print, every drop was earned the same way the brand itself was: one step at a time, without shortcuts.
That's where "Grow Through Concrete" comes from. It's not a slogan we picked because it sounded good. It's the plan take what's in front of you, and build something out of it anyway. The crow is the mascot for the same reason: it doesn't wait for good conditions. It thrives in the ones it's already in.
Today, Leaf is built the same way it always was, just at a bigger scale. The same hands that once cut stencils and hand-printed tees one at a time still pull every screen by hand today, just across full production runs now same care, same eye for detail, just more of it. Nothing about the process got automated away. It just grew up.
Grow Through Concrete.
